Actinic Keratoses

Actinic Keratoses are very superficial lesions of the skin typically resulting from sun damage. These lesions are typically superficial, red, scaley lesions that may become irritated or even bleed/form a scab with minimal trauma. Diagnosis can be confirmed by biopsy. These lesions can sometimes develop into skin cancer.

Because these lesions are so superficial, surgical excision is rarely indicated. Non-surgical treatment options include cryotherapy, electrodessication and curettage, photodynamic therapy, laser therapy, and topical application of Aldara or Efudex. Should your primary care physician or dermatologist determine that surgical excision is required for some reason, we are happy to provide this service.
